Last year during Ultrasound Awareness Month we announced the Inspiring Excellence Mentor Award. We asked all of you to nominate someone who has made an outstanding commitment to mentoring within the field of ultrasound. We asked and you answered!! Dozens of applications came in from around the globe!
The new year has rang in and we are already quickly approaching the end of the month. I though before another year takes off it would be nice to review some of the highlights from last year. Last year we were celebrating our 10th anniversary which kicked off in October 2017 with a world tour that ran through October 2018.
This month we held an Echo Symposium that was focused on the MitraClip procedure. The conference, What the Clip! was a half day symposium that covered the essentials of understanding degenerative mitral valve regurgitation and how to perform the required echo and TEE views.
Last weekend we held What the Clip! Echo Symposium at Bethesda Hospital East. It reviewed the echo assessment of the mitral valve with both TTE and TEE. At the end of the symposium, George Daniel, MD, FACC reviewed a MitraClip case with us. He presented a case that he had recently performed at Bethesda Hospital.
This past Saturday we held our Echo Symposium on the MitraClip. Jeffrey Perez, from Abbott, gave a great lecture and demonstration of the MitraClip procedure. In past weeks we introduced you to some of the symposium speakers, Dr. Christina Michael and Elyce Kwasman, MSN, ACNP. This week we would like to introduce you to Jeff so you can learn a little more about his background and his role in the MitraClip procedure.
Last week we introduced Dr. Christina Michael, a Florida cardiologist that will be speaking at our upcoming symposium. As we get closer to the MitraClip Conference we would like to introduce you to another speaker, Elyce Kwasman, MSN, ACNP-BC.
In a few weeks we will be hosting the What the Clip!! Echo Symposium at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. This week we would like to introduce you to one of the speakers, Dr. Christina Michael. She is the Medical Director of the echocardiography lab at Bethesda Memorial Hospital and is a member of the MitraClip Cardiovascular Team.
