It’s easy to forget the true benefits of QI Measures as we get caught up in the accreditation process. We would like to spotlight some great success stories of improved patient outcomes from IAC QI Measures. Read More

Case One

Ejection Fraction: Decreased Variability

At our quarterly meetings the group of physicians would review an echo together and interpret the ejection fraction.

Initially there was a wide variability, what one physician would read as 40% another would read as 55%

After continual education and training CardioServ was able to reduce the variability ensuring standardized care and better patient outcomes.

Case Two

Reduced: Patient Radiation Exposure

At a nuclear cardiology quality improvement meeting we selected dose verification as our technical measure for accreditation. We reviewed 60 randomly selected Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI) Stress Tests and tracked the rest and stress dose of administered isotope.

Prior to Education:

At our quarterly quality improvement meeting we reviewed the results and discovered the lab was only 42% compliant with ASNC Patient Centered Guidelines for Radioactive Isotope Dosing proving plenty of room for improvement to reduce patient radiation exposure.

CardioServ provided education and a review of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) guidelines. The technical director came up with proactive steps to add to their routine workflow to help ensure the correct and lower stress dosing.

After Education:

After the new practices were put into practice we once again pulled 60 random MPI Stress Tests and assessed the administered radioactive isotope dosing and wow, what a difference. Within one quarter the lab had improved their compliance with ASNC Radioactive Isotope Dosing from 42% compliance to 79% compliance.
